Some days I feel like I must be the weirdest person that any of my friends know.
After high school, I spent 4 years in the US Army as a Patriot Missile Technician. When I got out I went to commercial dive school, and then spent a year as an ROV technician, working for a company out of Houston.
When I finally went to college in 1999, I wanted to major in engineering. But I ran into 'the Wrong Woman' and Calculus II at about the same time. I graduated 4 years later with an English degree from Tufts. Among other things during that time, I rode a recumbent bicycle from Oregon to Michigan, and had a few odd adventures along the way.
As I was finishing Tufts, I discovered the North Bennet Street School, fell in love with making things, and the rest was history. I opened up my own shop and made custom pieces for 7 years before I decided to do other things.
Since then, I spent a few years building prototype flying cars for a company called Terrafugia. During the pandemic I went back to school, first at BU for engineering, and I'm now (in 2025) in the home stretch of an MBA, at WPI. I've also spent some time working as a project manager for Alaka'i technologies in Stow, while they were working on their Skai aircraft.
Aside from all of that, I've gotten into smoking meat, (including making my own bacon) 3D printing, and a variety of other odd things.
I hope this finds you well, and that whoever you are, wherever you are, you're succeeding.
